Eberhard has a long tradition in the production of sport and diving watches. Introduced in the 1950s, the Scafograf was one of the first dive watches to appear on the market. In 2016, the Swiss brand successfully relaunched the Scafograf line with the Scafograf 300, a model that was awarded with the "Sports Watch Prize" at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève. The line expanded in 2017 with the Scafograf GMT, a model that maintained the same lines of the Scafograf 300 while adding a useful triple time zone function.
And, in 2018, Eberhard presented the “bad boy” of the family, the Scafograf GMT “Black Sheep”.
Offering the same technical features of the standard Scafograf GMT, this version stands out for its bold and unconventional look. In fact, the black-DLC surface treatment of the stainless steel case enhances the sporty character of the model.
Despite a pretty large case of 43 mm, the Black Sheep looks smaller thanks to its black colour and the short, slightly curved lugs. These are perfectly integrated with the black rubber strap making the watch very comfortable on the wrist.
The watch is instantly recognisable as a GMT model not only for the orange text at 6 o'clock but, more importantly, for the orange arrow-tipped hand and the bi-directional rotating bezel featuring a glossy black ceramic insert with 24h scale and luminescent mark at 12 o’clock.
Featuring the embossed "E" of the brand logo, the crown is protected by two guards, a detail that enhances the look of the watch while making it even sturdier.
Slightly curved with galbé finish, the black dial offers excellent readability thanks to large baton-type hands and applied indices. The particular coating with black luminescent material improves readability in the dark while reinforcing the black look. The highly visible seconds hand allows the wearer to instantly check that the watch is running.
Black dominates also the dial where the baton-type hands and applied indices are coated with black luminescent material for readability in the dark. A touch of colour comes from the orange of the GMT hand and GMT lettering, clearly standing out against the dial.
The anti-reflective treatment on the inner surface of the convex sapphire crystal further improves legibility reducing reflections.

Showing the time in a reference timezone, the GMT hand can be adjusted by simply pulling out the crown in position 1 and turning it clockwise in half-hour increments. By turning it anti-clockwise in the same position, the crown advances the date. In position 2, the crown adjusts the time.
A third time zone can be easily indicated at any time by turning the bi-directional rotating bezel to the new time zone — the location of the 24-hour hand being the point of reference.
Screwed caseback and screwed-in crown contribute to make this great-looking sporty watch water resistant to 100 metres / 330 feet. Made from steel, the back is engraved with a stylised hemisphere with time zones, the name of the model and individual numbering of the timepiece which will be produced as a limited edition of just 500 pieces.
The black rubber strap with a large "E" shield on the outside and smaller shields on the inside (for enhanced comfort on the wrist) is perfectly integrated with the watch case. A DLC-treated steel bracelet completed by a deployment clasp is optionally available.
The Black Sheep is driven by the ETA 2893-2 self-winding calibre with ball bearing, an excellent choice for a watch that must be always reliable and accurate. Beating at 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), it guarantees a power reserve of 42 hours.
