In the year that marks the 55th anniversary of the Carrera, TAG Heuer enriches its best-selling collection with two new chronographs powered by the automatic Calibre 16.
The classic design of the Carrera is here integrated by stylish details which enhance the sporty character of the timepieces. The touches of red on the dial, just like its entire layout, are clear references to motor sport.
Housed in 41 mm cases in polished stainless steel and water resistant to 100 metres / 330 feet, the new TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 Chronograph models come in two variations: a black version matched to a black leather strap and a blue version with a steel bracelet.
The ceramic bezel features a tachometer scale, another typical element of an automotive chronograph.
Adopting the “6-9-12“ layout, the three white registers stand out clearly against a dial featuring a white flange with a 60-second scale. The chronograph functions are indicated by the red hands: central seconds, 30 minutes at 12 o’clock and 12 hours at 6 o’clock.
The smaller counter at 9 o’clock with its white hand indicating the running seconds is counter-balanced by the date window at 3 o’clock. The dial is protected by a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides.
The TAG Heuer Calibre 16 powering the new models beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vph) and offers a power reserve of about 42 hours.
