Zenith Defy Zero G. Following the 2017 launch of the Defy El Primero 21, the only high-frequency automatic chronograph designed to measure hundredths of a second, and the Defy Lab, the world’s most accurate mechanical watch, in 2018 Zenith is expanding the Defy collection with several models ranging from the three-hand Defy Classic to complication models.

The new Zenith Defy Zero G features a gyroscopic “Gravity Control” module which takes center stage at the heart of a skeletonised and grey-toned high-frequency El Primero calibre.

Composed of 139 parts and inspired by historical marine chronometers, this patented device cancels the effects of gravity on the running rate of the watch, by maintaining the regulating organ and the balance wheel in a horizontal position.

Self-regulated by the Gravity Control module, the balance of the hand-wound El Primero 8812S calibre oscillates at the fast pace of 28,800 vibrations per hour (5 Hz) with a power reserve of more than 50 hours.

Visible on both sides, the entirely skeletonised and black rhodium-treated movement makes a striking contrast with the light tone of the five slim branches, inspired to the Zenith star symbol, which match the case material so emphasizing the three-dimensional effect of the whole structure.

Offset hours and minutes appear on a blue-tinted ring featuring luminescent faceted-hour-markers and baton-type hands.

The openworked small seconds subdial and power-reserve counter are symmetrically positioned – between 9 and 10 o’clock and between 2 and 3 o’clock respectively.

Crafted from pink gold or titanium, the 44 mm x 14.85 mm case is water-resistant to 100 metres / 330 feet and is secured to the wrist by a new integrated bracelet in matching metal with brushed and polished H-shaped links, or a rubber strap coated with alligator leather.
