Among several novelties, at Baselworld 2018 TAG Heuer unveiled a brand-new interpretation of its iconic Monaco developed in collaboration with Bamford Watch Department, a brand specialized in the customisation of luxury watches by personalising them with a recognizable style.
Featuring a solid carbon case, an elegant full black dial and aqua blue chronograph counters, this model represents the first official in-house built collaboration watch, only available for purchase in TAG Heuer boutiques and online stores in available countries.
The new Monaco Bamford retains the key hallmarks of the model, including the square 39-mm case and the crown positioned on the left, but it now boasts a case made from lightweight and highly resistant carbon.
To produce this timepiece, TAG Heuer created a special mould for the carbon case to perfectly respect the dimensions of the Monaco and meet the technical constraints of this specific material.
Crown, push buttons, and screwed case back are made of polished black PVD steel.
Bamford's signature style is evident in the chronograph counters highlighted with luminous marks on the indices and the date window, which are a particular aqua blue – Bamford Watch Department's favourite shade of blue – a detail which gives the timepiece a modern look.
The dial and the case-back are engraved with "Monaco Bamford" as a reminder of the partners in this collaboration. The aesthetic of the piece is completed by a black alligator leather and rubber strap.
The 4 Hz (28,800 vph) TAG Heuer Calibre 11 movement with Dubois Dépraz chronograph module delivers a 40-hour power reserve.
