Jaeger-LeCoultre pays tribute to Swiss painter Ferdinand Hodler (1853-1918) with a series of three new Reverso watches highlighting the exceptional skills of the artisans of its “Métiers Rares” workshop.
Both sides of each piece feature miniature reproductions of works painted by Hodler, a major figure of symbolism and emblematic painter of Switzerland.
Landscapes of mountains and lakes, a typical subject of the painter’s work, were chosen to decorate the white gold case of these three models, each issued in eight-piece limited editions.
The dials are enriched by guilloché motifs with small lozenges created using a century-old lathe machine. The engravings were then covered by a translucent enamel whose colour was chosen to harmonise with the tone of the painting reproduction on the reverse side.
The enamelling artists of Jaeger-LeCoultre spent more than fifty hours on each watch reproducing the Master’s paintings as faithfully as possible despite the small 3x2 cm surface area at disposal on the Reverso back case. The white gold case has the typical proportions of the Reverso Tribute models: 45.5 mm wide, 27.4 mm high and 9.73 mm thick.
