Ulysse Nardin - Classico Manufacture Grand Feu, White and Black Dials

Pre-SIHH 2018: Following the Classico Manufacture edition with a translucid blue Grand Feu enamel dial introduced at the end of 2016 and first showcased on occasion of the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie held in Geneva at the beginning of 2017 (we wrote about it here), Ulysse Nardin is now expanding its range with two new dial colour variations: white and black. Both versions (ref. 3203-136-2/E0-42 with white dial or ref. 3203-136-2/E2 with black dial) have a retail price of Swiss Francs 8,800 / Euro 8,800.

Following the Classico Manufacture edition with a translucid blue Grand Feu enamel dial introduced at the end of 2016 (we wrote about it here), Ulysse Nardin is now expanding its range with two new dial colour variations: white and black.

Enamel dials are very difficult to produce. In particular, black enamel is the most challenging. The selection of the enamel powder is crucial in determining the result: black can only be created by applying different and carefully chosen coloured pigments to the substrate, giving the enamel opacity and depth.

As black reveals the slightest imperfection, the slightest flaw could waste hours of work. After the enamel dial is polished to a high sheen, it is ready for the final operation: applying the Roman numerals in a contrasting colour that reveals the full splendour of the Grand Feu enamel dial.

Framed by a 40 mm stainless case with slim lugs, the dial is completed by contrasting leaf-shaped hands and markers, in black or white depending on the version.

This Classico Manufacture is powered by the self-winding UN-320 calibre, a movement entirely designed and produced in-house by Ulysse Nardin which features silicium hairspring and anchor escapement. Silicium is extremely light, durable and resistant to environmental changes in magnetism or temperature. 

Offering a power reserve of 48 hours, this advanced movement allows for rapid date correction both forwards and backwards.

Delivered with a certificate remarking the stringent quality standards of the timepiece, the Ulysse Nardin Classico Manufacture Grand Feu is water resistant to 30 metres / 100 feet.
