Ming - 19.01

Ming 19.01. Ming is a horological collective based in Kuala Lumpur formed and funded by a group of six watch enthusiasts from around the world under the leadership of Ming Thein, a well known photographer and designer and, of course, a lover of watches. The latest creation of this new brand is the Ming 19.01, designed by Ming Thein in Kuala Lumpur but serialized and assembled by Manufacture Schwarz-Etienne in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. Regular retail price will be Swiss Francs 7,900 but a reduced price of Swiss Francs 6,800 will be available until December 31. Deliveries will commence in the third quarter of 2018.

The latest creation of this new brand is the Ming 19.01, designed by Ming Thein but serialized and assembled by Manufacture Schwarz-Etienne in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.

The 19.01’s case – in reality a thin band holding the two deep-box sapphire crystals together – is made from grade 5 titanium with a mixture of mirror-polished and finely brushed surfaces. Measuring 39 mm x 10.9 mm, it is water resistant to 50 meters. The beautifully sculpted lugs are pretty short to enhance wearability on most wrists.

Protected by a box crystal with double antireflective coating, the sapphire dial has a radial gradient from opaque deep blue to transparent. A unique lacquer process was used to achieve this interesting effect. Chapter ring, logo and rear markings are laser-etched into the sapphire crystals. Hands and dial ring are filled with Super-LumiNova.

Movement is the Swiss hand-wound Schwarz-Etienne for Ming calibre MSE100.1 beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour and offering a remarkable power reserve of 100 hours. It is partially skeletonized with anthracite bead blasted bridges and anglage. Each movement undergoes a 250-hour test program.

Delivered in a travel pouch crafted from handmade vegetable tanned natural leather, the Ming 19.01 comes with two calf leather straps with quick release pins and stainless steel buckles.
