inspired it. The HYT H1 Alinghi (ref. 148-TC-09-NF-RC) has a price of Euro 65,000.
The new H1 Alinghi from HYT Watches is the result of the partnership - now at its third year - between the Swiss brand and Alinghi, the world renowned sailing team two-time winner of the America’s Cup as well as first European team to win the historic prize.
Available as a limited edition of 20 pieces, the new H1 Alinghi is the most technically advanced of the models resulting from this special partnership and borrows many elements from the boats which
inspired it.
The most striking of these elements is the rigging which criss-crosses the lower half of the dial. Custom-designed, it passes through four eyelets on the flange, before being secured to three central eyelets. The result is an unmistakable nod to the yachting world.
On the back, the structure of the H1 Alinghi echoes the deck of a yacht. The grey sandblasted finish emphasizes the high-tech DNA.
The dial enables the time to be read via the liquid in the capillary, to create the signature fluid time.
Two liquids - transparent the first and black the second - flow through a tube along a peripheral hours scale. Two flexible reservoirs at six o'clock are fixed to each end of a capillary. While the first compresses, the second expands, and the other way round, resulting in the movement of the liquid in the capillary. The repulsive force of the molecules in each liquid keep them separate, with a meniscus to mark the boundary between the two.
To enhance legibility in the dark, HYT has set it on a channel filled with Super-LumiNova. At night, the translucent part of the capillary reflects the light, enabling the time display, which remains opaque, to be read.
To achieve optimal lightness and rigidity, the timepiece has offset lugs and a crown guard, made from folded and forged carbon and assembled onto a titanium middle.
Other elements which have been designed specifically for the H1 Alinghi are the small seconds at 9 o'clock in the shape of a mainsail furler, the power reserve at 3 o'clock shaped like a winch, the jumper at 6 o'clock which bears the Alinghi logo, and the team's signature red, which is found on the power reserve and the minute hand.
The 48.8 mm x 17.9 mm case houses a mechanical hand-wound, exclusive HYT calibre beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a power reserve of 65 hours.
Completed by a dark charcoal grey strap crafted from reinforced fabric composed of fire-resistant and anti-allergen fibres with black topstitching and titanium folding buckle, the HYT H1 Alinghi (ref. 148-TC-09-NF-RC) has a price of Euro 65,000. hytwatches.com
