Chopard enriches its L.U.C Heritage range with a “form” chronometer in rose gold, the only tonneau shape watch in the collection.
Just as a Grand Cru wine is classified and certified, the excellent craftsmanship of the L.U.C Heritage Grand Cru is attested by the “Poinçon de Genève” quality hallmark. Chopard has designed this watch with its distinctive shape reminiscent of the oak barrels from the forests of Bertrange, Jupille and Tronçais.
The tonneau is a traditional shape of watch case that requires particular mastery. Part rectangle, part circle, the case of the L.U.C Heritage Grand Cru has a maximum width which is almost equivalent to its height, thus ensuring a generously ample dial.
Crafted from white porcelain and bearing black Roman numerals, the resulting dial is both elegant and eye-catching for its perfect proportions and finishing.
The minute track following the central part of the dial composes a balanced ensemble with the finely snailed small seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock.
The case and crystal of the L.U.C Heritage Grand Cru are gently domed, while the case is ultra-thin with a maximum thickness of 7.75 mm.
Such a slenderness was possible thanks to the slim calibre 97.01-L which is just 3.3 mm thick.
The new calibre is one of the rare “form” movements to be housed in a “form” case. As usual, it is adorned with the most advanced finishing performed in the Manufacture: the bevelling, polishing, circular graining and Côtes de Genève meet the high demands of the Poinçon de Genève criteria.
The engraved 22-carat gold micro-rotor drive two stacked barrels based on Chopard’s patented Twin technology. Together, they guarantee 65 hours of running time and supply sufficiently constant energy to enable calibre 97.01-L to beat with chronometer-worthy precision as certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).
Water resistant to 30 metres / 100 feet, the Chopard L.U.C Heritage Grand Cru (ref. 162296-5001) has a price of Euro 21,970 / US$ 25,090. chopard.com
