The first event - The Art of Watches, Grand Exhibition New York 2017 - is organized by Patek Philippe and will take place from July 13th – 23rd, 2017 at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York.
This public exhibition will showcase Patek Philippe’s tradition of high-precision watch manufacturing, an insight into the company’s 178-year history as well as its heritage in the domain of Haute Horlogerie.
For the first time ever a two-story structure has been created within Cipriani to accommodate the square footage required for an exhibition of this scale. Ten specific rooms have been created to showcase unique environments.
Visitors will have access to exceptional pocket and wrist watches in a space of 13,218 square feet. Watchmaker and Artisan demonstrations are some of the interactive activities taking place during the exhibition as a way to educate visitors on the inner-workings of fine watchmaking.
In the same days, Christie’s New York will host a private selling exhibition of Patek Philippe vintage timepieces at Christie’s Rockefeller Plaza galleries. Christie’s New York will offer a range of watches for immediate purchase, complemented by lectures, viewings, dinners and special events.
More than 300 Patek Philippe watches will be offered, from time-only watches to Grand Complications with prices ranging from US$ 5,000 to over US$ 5,000,000. The watches will be on public view alongside a display of 85 Patek Philippe pieces to be sold concurrently in a dedicated online auction from 13–27 July.
To complement the sale pieces, over 20 historically important and rare Patek Philippe watches will be displayed, on loan from global private collections, including many rare models that were never seen before in public.
