In 2016, the brand manifested its decision to explore new opportunities in the world of extreme performances, and motor sports in particular, by joining the world of Formula 1 and becoming the official watch partner of the Renault Sport Formula One Team.
For the development of the new BR X1 RS17 Skeleton Chronograph, the inspiration came from a Formula 1 steering wheel, on which each piece of information is paired with a different colour. This solution enables the driver to recognize them instantly, reducing the risk of error.
The 45 mm case of the watch is crafted from black ceramic and Carbone Forgé. Lightweight and highly resilient, this composite material is the same that is used in Grand-Prix racing cars being particularly suited for structural components subject to extreme mechanical stress.
The elements relating to the chronograph complication are partially coated in “Renault” yellow.
Rubber, another material used in F1 for racing car tires, is used on the rim of the case and the “rocker” type push buttons to ensure an excellent handling of the timekeeping functions.
The bezel features a tachymeter scale designed for calculating racing speeds while the dial flange is split into several hour segments, each of which has a corresponding colour. This colour segmentation makes the measured time easier to read. The chronograph hands are yellow, the date is red, the small seconds hand is green and the hour hand, white. The latter is coated in Super-LumiNova that guarantees excellent legibility, both day and night.
The skeleton mechanism of the automatic Calibre BR-CAL.313 beating at 28,800 vibrations can be admired through the grey-tinted sapphire crystal.
For the strap, rubber is paired with carbon fiber for a very sporty and technical look.
