Rolex introduced three new versions of its Cosmograh Daytona - one of the most iconic chronographs ever designed (you can read the complete history of the Rolex Daytona here) - in yellow, white or Everose gold.
These versions are fitted on the innovative Oysterflex bracelet in elastomer reinforced with a metal blade, and are equipped with a monobloc Cerachrom bezel, patented by Rolex, in black ceramic.
Reminiscent of the 1965 model that was fitted with a black Plexiglas bezel insert, the black bezel is here engraved with a tachymetric scale for measuring average speeds of up to 400 units of distance – miles or kilometres – per hour.
The high-tech ceramic is corrosion resistant, virtually scratchproof and its colour is unaffected by UV rays. Thanks to the deposition of a thin layer of 18 ct gold or platinum in the numerals and graduations via a PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) process, the legibility is excellent.
The Cosmograph Daytona’s Oyster 40 mm case is crafted from a solid block of 18 ct gold with an hermetically screw-down fluted case back. Guaranteed waterproofness is 100 metres / 330 feet) thanks to the winding crown – fitted with the Triplock triple waterproofness system – and the screw-down chronograph pushers.
The self-winding chronograph movement, calibre 4130, is engaged by a mechanism with a column wheel and vertical clutch for instantaneous and precise start. Beating at 28,800 vph, it offers a power reserve of 72 hours.
The oscillator has a blue Parachrom hairspring manufactured in an exclusive alloy insensitive to magnetic fields.
The new Oysterflex bracelet, developed and patented by Rolex, combines the robustness and reliability of a metal bracelet with the flexibility, comfort and aesthetics of an elastomer strap. At its core lies a superelastic metal blade overmoulded with high-performance black elastomer, a material that is particularly resistant to environmental effects and very durable.
The Oysterflex bracelet is also fitted with an 18 ct yellow, white or Everose gold Oysterlock safety clasp that prevents accidental opening. It is equipped with the Rolex-patented Easylink rapid extension system that allows the wearer to increase the bracelet length by approximately 5 mm, for additional comfort in any circumstance.
The Cosmograph Daytona is covered by the Superlative Chronometer certification redefined by Rolex in 2015 and applied to the fully assembled watch, after casing the movement to guarantee precision, power reserve, waterproofness and self-winding. The precision of a Rolex Superlative Chronometer after casing is of the order of −2/+2 seconds per day.
The new Rolex Cosmograph Daytona in gold with Cerachrom bezel and Oysterflex bracelet comes, like all Rolex watches, with an international five-year guarantee. Prices: Euro 25,650 for the yellow gold version (ref. 116518LN) and Euro 26,750 in Everose gold (ref. 116515LN) or in white gold (ref. 116519LN). rolex.com
