Richard Mille recently presented a new iteration of the model, the RM 035 Ultimate Edition, whose production will be limited to just 35 pieces available exclusively at the boutiques of the brand.
Thanks to the use of baseplate and bridges crafted from Grade 5 titanium, the total weigh of the 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) movement is just 4.3 grams. Offering a power reserve of approximately 55 hours, this hand wound skeletonised movement features a double barrel system that helps improving torque stability over a longer period, resulting in improved accuracy.
The movement is well protected by the 48 mm x 39.70 mm x 12.25 mm NTPT carbon case. NTPT carbon (where the acronym stands for North Thin Ply Technology, the name of the Swiss company who patented this technology) is a composite material that was originally developed for the sails of racing yachts and then used also for F1 car chassis and in aeronautics with exceptional physical properties but also a truly unique appearance.
Once machined, NTPT composites have a top quality finish with amazing shades and reflections that reminds us of high quality wood appearance (more information on Richard Mille’s hi-tech materials can be found here).
Each RM 035 Ultimate Edition timepiece undergoes the Chronofiable certification which simulates normal wearing conditions with an accelerated intensity factor of about 8 by reproducing in 21 days the equivalent of 6-month effective wear. Tests include resistance to temperature and humidity changes as well as to magnetic fields and shocks.
Fitted with a polyurethane strap, the Richard Mille RM 035 Ultimate Edition has a price of around Euro 147,500. richardmille.com
