In 2017, Longines is presenting several novelties to celebrate its 185th anniversary. Among them, the new Record collection is remarkable because all its models are certified as chronometers by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC), a first for Longines.
Combining classic elegance and precision, the timepieces of this collection are equipped with automatic calibres that were tested one by one by the neutral independent organization, and can thus display the "chronometer" label stamped on their dial.
With four sizes (26, 30, 38.5 and 40 mm), the Record collection is designed for both women (7 dials) and men (6 dials).
For the 26 mm and 30 mm models, Longines used the Calibre L592.4 (ETA A20.L11) beating at 28,800 vibrations per hours and offering a power reserve of 40 hours. For the 38.5 mm and 40 mm models, the movement of choice was the Calibre L888.4 (ETA A31.L11) beating at 25,200 vibrations per hour with an autonomy of 64 hours.
For increased accuracy and longevity, Longines decided to use single-crystal silicon balance spirals for its movements – a resistant and light material that is not affected by standard temperature variations, magnetic fields and atmospheric pressure.
