The new Mirrored Force Resonance Water variant combines the stainless steel case to a white dial enhanced by blue accents and a dark blue alligator strap. A limited edition of 50 pieces, the Armin Strom Mirrored Force Resonance Water has a price of Swiss Francs 54,000. Armin Strom novelties 2017.
Following the acclaimed Mirrored Force Resonance in red gold launched last November (we wrote about it here), Armin Strom is now presenting a new limited edition in stainless steel, a perfect material to emphasize the exceptional technical contents of this model.
In line with Armin Strom's four elements concept where the Water, Air, Earth and Fire names are associated to different case materials (stainless steel, titanium, black PVD-coated stainless steel and red gold respectively), the Mirrored Force Resonance Water variant combines the stainless steel case to a white dial enhanced by blue accents and a dark blue alligator strap. Water resistant to 50 letters / 165 feet, the case has a diameter of 43.40 mm and a total height of 13 mm.
With its off-centre time indication and twin display of seconds, the dial sets the stage for the resonance mechanism: two independent regulation systems that stabilize each other connected by a resonance clutch spring.
The two visible, connected oscillators make their revolutions in opposite directions, one rotating clockwise and the other counterclockwise.
Resonance is a phenomenon of physics in which two oscillating bodies in close proximity influence each other and eventually synchronize at a preferential frequency with one body acting as the "exciter", and the second as the "resonator".
A rare horological feat that only few watchmakers have mastered, resonance offers three main benefits: a) higher accuracy, b) conservation of energy, and c) more resistance to outside perturbations such as shocks to the balance staff.
After winding, the twin balance wheels need approximately 10 minutes to become synchronous. The case band pusher at 2 o’clock resets the luminous twin seconds’ displays to zero, simultaneously resetting the twin balance wheels.
Beating at a frequency of 25,200 vibrations per hour, the hand wound calibre ARF15 is comprised of 226 components and offers a power reserve of 48 hours.
In addition to the blue alligator horn-back strap, the new Mirrored Force Resonance Water is equipped with an additional blue rubber strap. A double-folding clasp in stainless steel is available as an option.
