After three years dedicated to the development of timepieces with moon phase complication culminating in the Lune exact model offering an incredibly precise moon phase indication which deviates just one day in two million years - a Guinnes World Record - and gives the age of the moon in days and further increments of three hours, Andreas Strehler is "back to the earth" with the new Sauterelle à heure mondiale.
The fascinating engine turned dial is available in blue or silver and can be matched to a red gold or platinum case whose typical shape has dimensions of 41.00 mm x 37.30 mm, or 43.40 mm x 47.20 mm if you include the crown and lugs.
Like all Sauterelle models, the Sauterelle à heure mondiale has the patented Andreas Strehler remontoir d’égalité at 10 o’clock which charges the escapement every second with the exact same amount of energy while indicating the seconds.
At 8 o’clock on the dial, under Andreas Strehler’s sapphire crystal minute ring, there is a three-dimensional view of the northern hemisphere as seen from above the north pole, rotating counter clockwise once in 24 hours, as the earth does.
On the movement side of the watch, there is a ring with 24 names of individual cities, representing the 24 time zones.
To set the home time, you just need to pull the crown to the first position and set the central blue arrow to desired time zone.
Then, while turning the watch and looking at the dial again, you can pull the crown to the second position and set the hands and the earth to the exact time, with the earth serving as 24 hour and day/night indicator.
