SIHH 2017: A. Lange & Sohne 1815 Annual Calendar. A. Lange & Soehne novelties at SIHH 2017
Introduced with great interest at SIHH 2017, the 1815 Annual Calendar is the second A. Lange & Söhne timepiece endowed with this useful calendar function.
Differently from the self-winding Saxonia Annual Calendar featuring an outsize date, the new model comes with a manually wound movement and an analogue date, following the classic design and style principles of the 1815 watch family.
The blued-steel hands clearly stand out against the argenté-coloured background of the classic dial to indicate the time, perfectly complemented by the black Arabic numerals and the peripheral railway-track minute scale.
Calculated to remain accurate for 122.6 years, the moon-phase display is integrated into the subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock.
The calendar indications are easily legible thanks to the golden hands of the two subdials that are precisely aligned with the horizontal centre axis. On the left, they display the day and on the right the month.
The 1815 Annual Calendar correctly calculates the duration of all months from March to January. Since February is treated as a 30-day month, on 1 March the wearer will have to perform a manual correction to synchronise the date.
If the watch has stood still for a long period of time, it is possible to advance all indications at once by using the push-button at 2 o’clock. Instead, the three recessed push pieces allow separate corrections of the day, month and moon phase. The date can also be separately advanced with an additional recessed push piece, a first in a Lange calendar model.
The calendar module of the hand-wound calibre L051.3 is only 1.4 mm for a total height of the movement of 5.7 mm. Despite its slenderness, the 3Hz (21,600 vph) L051.3 has an excellent power reserve of 72 hours.
Visible through the sapphire-crystal caseback, the ratchet and crown wheels are integrated into the German-silver three-quarter plate and decorated with solarisation.
Screwed gold chatons, the screw balance, the whiplash spring and the hand-engraved balance cock respect the high standards of Saxon watchmaking tradition.
The 40 mm round case has a thickness of 10.1 mm and is available in white gold (ref. 238.026) or pink gold (ref. 238.032). The price of the A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Annual Calendar is Euro 37,500. alange-soehne.com

This my favorite SIHH timepiece. But I was hoping in a price closer to 30 than 40. The design of the dial is perfect.
ReplyDeleteBig love for this watch. Lange is not making any mistake in its line.
