Few days ahead of the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie de Geneva, we focus today on a truly exclusive timepiece from Vacheron Constantin which combines two major technical feats: the tourbillon and the minute repeater.
The tourbillon serves to compensate for the effects of gravity and thereby enhances the precision of the watch.
The minute repeater - one of the most sought-after complications - chimes the hours, quarters and minutes at the press of a single pusher.
The Traditionnelle minute repeater tourbillon comes in a choice of pink gold and platinum versions and is powered by the hand-wound movement Calibre 2755 TMR, entirely developed and produced by Vacheron Constantin, which beats at the low frequency of 2.5 Hz, ideal to appreciate the rhythm of its pulsations to the full.
The 58-hour power-reserve indication – with its pink gold pointer whose colour is achieved by a black oxide process – is unusually placed on the back of the watch rather than on the dial.
The sapphire crystal case back reveals the calibre, composed of 471 parts and adorned with 40 jewels, along with its hand-crafted finishes meeting the highest watchmaking standards.
Framed by the 44 mm-diameter case, the dial comes in slate grey or silver-toned variations on the platinum models and is silver-toned for the pink gold version. It is decorated with a refined hand-guilloché motif which Vacheron Constantin uses exclusively for timepieces available from its boutiques.
The hours and minutes hands, made of pink or white gold depending on the versions, are slightly offset towards the upper section of the dial, so as to provide more space for the tourbillon carriage,
fashioned in the shape of Vacheron Constantin’s Maltese cross emblem, which appears in the lower half.
The hand-polished bar of the tourbillon carriage alone requires around 11 hours of meticulous workmanship to be completed.
Meeting the highest standards criteria of craftsmanship and chronometric quality, the Traditionnelle minute repeater tourbillon bears the Hallmark of Geneva, the prestigious independent label that certifies the compliance of the entire watch - and not just the movement - with the traditions of Genevan workmanship since 1886.
Vacheron Constantin is not only the most faithful representative of the Hallmark of Geneva since 1901 but also the manufacturer which produces the largest number of timepieces stamped with this seal of exclusivity which offers a guarantee of provenance, precision, durability, and know-how.
Available exclusively from Vacheron Constantin boutiques, the Traditionnelle minute repeater tourbillon is delivered with with a resonance holder "La Musique du Temps" that serves to amplify the sound and the harmony of the notes struck by the minute repeater. vacheron-constantin.com
