Seiko’s Prospex collection was launched internationally two years ago with performance watches inspired to sea, sky and land adventures.
In 2016, the Prospex marine collection expanded with the first model, other than the Astron, to incorporate Seiko’s unique GPS Solar technology.
The Marinemaster GPS Solar Dual-Time receives signals from GPS satellites to set the time and date. GPS stands for Global Positioning System, a satellite positioning system for determining the current position on the earth.
With the touch of a button, the watch adjusts to the exact local time anywhere on earth, land or at sea, using just the power of light.
Furthermore, the Dual-Time function allows the user to know at a glance the home time as well as the local time.
Functions include: GPS controlled time and time zone adjustment, dual time indicator (40 time zones), perpetual day and date calendar correct to the year 2100, AM/PM indicator, daylight savings time function, signal reception result indication, power save function.
The case and bracelet are made of corrosion-resistant titanium, protected by a super-hard coating and a two-piece ceramic bezel.
The 48.5 mm x 14.7 mm case and bracelet are shaped to avoid any edge catching a rope or line. The bracelet is equipped with a tri-fold push button release clasp with extender.
The watch is 200 meters water resistant, with a screw-down case back and crown.
Excellent legibility in any weather, day or night, is ensured by the sapphire crystal coated inside and out to minimize glare and reflection, the wide, prow-shaped markers and Seiko’s latest Lumibrite coating.
The calibre 8X53 shows both local and home time simultaneously in a simple layout and never needs a battery charge, drawing all the energy it needs from light alone. Once fully charged by exposing the dial to light, the watch runs for approximately 6 months.
The Seiko Marinemaster GPS Solar Dual-Time Ref. SSF001 is offered in a 1,500-piece limited edition at the retail price of US$ 3,000.
The model is also available in a black version with the same features and design elements. The price of this alternative version (ref. SBED003) is US$ 2,600. seikowatches.com
