Haute horlogerie brand Urban Jürgensen expands its offering with the new Jules Collection, launched on occasion of Baselworld 2016 with two models, Reference 2240 and Reference 2340.

The Jules Collection introduces new case lugs characterised by a contemporary tapered design integrated on a convex and concave curved case with a diameter of 40 mm.

The top bezel houses a domed sapphire crystal, and the screw back is equipped with flat sapphire crystal

A domed sapphire crystal protects the precious dial made from a single piece of grained finished solid silver enriched by hand lacquered engraved Urban Jürgensen Arabic numerals.

Reference 2240 comes in rose gold and has central seconds and date indication.

Reference 2340 is crafted from white gold and, together with small seconds, date and power
reserve, it displays a beautiful moon phase indication at 12 o'clock.

The moon disc is rigorously made by hand. The disc is crafted from mirror polished thermally blued steel. Recesses for the stars are then punched or etched into the steel. Pure gold in powder form is then deposited into the cavities for the stars and melted into place to form a solid gold inlay. Finally, the two solid gold moon discs with mirror polished surfaces are press-fitted into corresponding holes in the disc to complete the dual image of two sets of moons with stars. Consider that it takes more than 20 different operations to create a single Urban Jürgensen moon disc.

The hands are also crafted with special care. The arms are cut from selected steel and thermally blued while the eye of the hour hand is crafted from gold (rose for reference 2240, yellow for 2340) and concentrically diamond polished. The arms are then carefully riveted to the diamond polished solid gold centre canons.

Both references are powered by the in-house P4 hand-wound movement beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour and featuring a twin barrel for a power reserve of 60 hours. Through the flat sapphire crystal crystal it is possible to appreciate the high quality of the  traditional haute-horlogerie finishes.
