In anticipation of Baselworld 2016, Bulgari has already presented several new watch models for Ladies. In these watches the jewel side prevails with precious materials and stones combined to high-precision Swiss movements.
In a recent conversation that we had with Guido Terreni, Managing Director of Bulgari Watches, he said that one of the reasons why women love Bulgari watches is that Bulgari does not address them with reduced or diamond-set versions of men watches. Terreni explained: "This is not how we believe we should treat a woman. Of course, a woman is not a downsized version of a man. We want to complement the beauty of a female wrist with something that was specifically meant to dress that wrist. The Serpenti or the Lucea models are examples of our approach. This is really part of the Bulgari's DNA." And, for sure, the new 2016 models confirm this statement.
The new Serpenti Incantati (“enchanting snakes” in Italian) renews the theme of the snakes through a modern design in a Haute Joaillerie interpretation. The snake now appears in a new guise by taking on the shape of a round 30 mm case.
Available in a pink gold version with rubellite and diamonds or in white gold with diamonds, the Serpenti Incantati watch can be matched to a satin strap or to a diamond-set bracelet.
The Serpenti theme is further developed in two new jewelry watches where the double wrap-around bracelet and the head of the snake are set with diamonds, while emerald or ruby precious stones are used for the eyes. The colours of these models are created by intense lacquers: one of the versions plays with black, while the other one coils a deep emerald green around the entire bracelet.
Alongside the snake theme, Bulgari is reinterpreting another of its symbols: the Tubogas bracelet. This year, it is proposed in two executions: one in polished steel, the other in a combination of steel and pink gold. The curved case is set with brilliant-cut diamonds and frames a violet lacquered dial with sunburst guilloché treatment. The bracelet wrapping itself twice around the wrist is the key asset of the new timepieces. It requires a specific Bulgari technical skill that consists in assembling gold or steel ribbon-like strips with clean-cut rounded contours around a core spring, without any soldering.
2016 also sees the introduction of additional new ladies’ watch references, starting with the Bulgari Diva that makes a match with the Haute Joaillerie and jewelry lines bearing the same name. The elegant design conceals a technical feat in the articulation between the watch and its bracelet.
The 30 mm case, with its typical shaped fan motif, is crafted from white gold and features a crown set with a cabochon-cut tourmaline. Two are the dial variations: diamond-pavé or natural acetate. Acetate is an organic material born from the fusion of wood and cotton fibres that can be polished to create unique and specific light effects. Highly malleable, acetate makes a perfect match with the diamond hours and minutes markers.
In addition, Bulgari introduced the new Piccola Lucea. Characterised by a luminous round case, a crown set with a cabochon-cut stone and a distinctive bracelet with trapezoidal links, this new version of the successful Lucea model has been redesigned in a smaller diameter of just 23 mm. Referring to the growing demand for smaller ladies’ watches, Guido Terreni explicitly talked of a current trend.
The Piccola Lucea was conceived as a watch that can be used for daily wear but also as a piece of jewelry in the evening.
