The vision of Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey was clearly expressed with the "Le Garde Temps - Naissance d'une Montre" project that was developed in collaboration with Swiss watchmaking legend Philippe Dufour and announced in 2015 (we wrote about this project here).
For each of the new Signature creations, one talented watchmaker will elaborate his or her timepiece taking advantage of Greubel Forsey's resources, skills and expertise and will co-sign the creation.
The first model of this series is the Signature 1, the creation of Didier J.G. Cretin, a brilliant watchmaker and longtime team member at Greubel Forsey
The result is a manually wound watch with three hands, without a tourbillon function (for the first time in the history of Greubel Forsey), which instead features an exclusively designed Greubel Forsey 12.6 mm balance beating at 18,000 vibrations per hour. The movement has a power reserve of 54 hours.
The hands of the all-gold offset dial are finished and countersunk by hand while the indices have been engraved into the gold dial and then oven-fired enamelled. Bridges are decorated with Geneva stripes or with a frosted black PVD treatment.
Not only the simplest timepiece ever created by Greubel Forsey, the Signature 1 is also the smallest with its 41.4 x 11.7 mm case.
The Greubel Forsey Signature 1 will be produced in 66 examples only: 11 in rose gold, 11 in white gold, 11 in platinum and 33 in stainless steel (11 of which with a blue time dial) with prices starting at Swiss Francs 150,000 for the steel version. greubelforsey.com
