Among several novelties, at the upcoming SIHH 2016 Montblanc will showcase a new model of the Heritage Chronométrie collection which combines a chronograph with an annual calendar, a first time for the line.
As it is easy to imagine, the main challenge for a watch like the new Montblanc Heritage Chronométrie Chronograph Quantième Annuel is maintaining a clear and legible dial considering the numerous indications displayed and ten hands on the dial.
Montblanc achieves this result by keeping all the chronograph related hands in blue and the hands for the hours, minutes, seconds and calendar functions in plated red gold.
The chronograph seconds are indicated with a central blue hand, the elapsed minutes are displayed in a counter at 9 o’clock with sectorial scale, and the hours in a counter at 6 o’clock.
For the annual calendar, the days of the week are on display at 6 o’clock, the date is shown at 12 o’clock and the months are featured at 9 o’clock. At 3 o’clock, the fascinating moonphase complication displays the four principal cycles of the moon via four individual red gold-plated moons. New moon, first quarter, full moon and last quarter—that are identified with a red gold hand.
The calendar functions can be set thanks to four individual correctors positioned in the middle-piece of the case and operated by a dedicated Montblanc pin that is delivered with the timepiece.
The Heritage Chronométrie Chronograph Quantième Annuel is powered by the automatic movement calibre MB 25.09 which beats at 28,800 vph with a power reserve of 42 hours.
In line with the aesthetic code of the collection, the watch features faceted sword hands, red gold-plated indexes and Arabic numerals in a polished 42 mm x 13.83 mm red gold case with curved horns.
Fitted with an alligator leather strap, the Montblanc Heritage Chronométrie Chronograph Quantième Annuel (ref. 114876) is tested for 500 hours in line with the requirements of the Montblanc Laboratory 500 Test and has a retail price of around Euro 18,900 / US$ 20,500. montblanc.com
