IWC expands its Aquatimer collection, launched at SIHH 2014, with three new models: a new black and yellow version of the Aquatimer Automatic 2000, the Aquatimer Automatic Edition "Expedition Jacques-Yves Cousteau", the latest special edition produced in honour of the French scuba-diving pioneer, and the Aquatimer Chronograph Edition "La Cumbre Volcano" limited to 500 pieces.
The Aquatimer Automatic 2000 is now available in a new version with yellow hands and numerals and a black dial.
Water-resistant to 2,000 metres, the Aquatimer Automatic 2000 features a 46 mm x 20.5 mm titanium case which houses the 4 Hz (28,800 vph) IWC-manufactured 80110-calibre movement with automatic winding and a 44-hour power reserve.
A feature common to all the Aquatimer models, the dive time can be set using the mechanical external/internal rotating bezel which combines the legibility of an internal rotating dive ring with the ease of use of an external bezel. The IWC SafeDive system ensures that the inner ring can be moved only anticlockwise.
The sporty look of the IWC Aquatimer Automatic 2000 (ref. IW328001) is completed by a black rubber strap. Retail price is Euro 9,650 / US$ 10,500.
The Aquatimer Automatic Edition “Expedition Jacques-Yves Cousteau” continues the tradition of special editions dedicated to the legendary French diving pioneer and oceanographer. As a partner of the Cousteau Society, IWC contributes to the restoration of Cousteau’s famous research vessel, the Calypso, among other things.
The edition is characterised by the deep blue of the dial, a colour which offers a perfect contrast against the white hands and hour markers, all of them heavily treated with luminescent material.
The stainless steel case has a diameter of 42 mm and is 14 mm thick. The case back shows Jacques-Yves Cousteau with his trademark beanie.
Water-resistant to 30 bar, the timepiece is powered by the automatic ETA-based Calibre 30120 offering a power reserve of 42 hours.
The IWC Aquatimer Automatic Edition "Expedition Jacques-Yves Cousteau" (ref. IW329005) has a price of Euro 5,550 / US$ 6,000.
The Aquatimer Chronograph Edition "La Cumbre Volcano" is a chronograph with flyback function which offers water resistance to 30 bar.
The stainless-steel 44 mm x 17 mm case is coated with matte black rubber and houses the IWC-manufactured self-winding movement, Calibre 89365, beating at 28,800 vph and offering 68 hours of power reserve.
Part of the proceeds from sales of this special edition will be used to support the Charles Darwin Foundation which is committed to preserve the fragile ecosystem of the Galapagos archipelago in the Pacific Ocean. Produced in 500 pieces, this limited-edition is dedicated to the La Cumbre volcano on the island of Fernandina.
The internal rotating bezel, central seconds and minute hand of the chronograph display are dark red in colour to symbolize seething magma. The engraving on the case back shows the volcano erupting.
The luminescent coating on the hands, numerals and internal rotating bezel guarantee optimum legibility under water.
