A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Tourbillon Handwerkskunst; As the anniversary year that commemorates the 200th birthday of Ferdinand Adolph Lange is near to its end, A. Lange & Söhne presents the 1815 Tourbillon Handwerkskunst, characterised by an exclusive dial and movement decorations. Housed in a pink-gold case with a diameter of 39.5 millimetres, the A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Tourbillon Handwerkskunst is a special edition limited to 30 pieces.
The 1815 Tourbillon was presented by A. Lange & Söhne in 2014 (we wrote about it here) as the first timepiece of the Saxon manufacturer to combine a stop-seconds device for the tourbillon and the ZERO-RESET mechanism which make it possible to stop and set the timepiece with one-second accuracy.
As the anniversary year that commemorates the 200th birthday of Ferdinand Adolph Lange is near to its end, A. Lange & Söhne presents the 1815 Tourbillon Handwerkskunst, characterised by an exclusive dial and movement decorations.
The German word Handwerkskunst, which means "artisanship", is used by A. Lange & Söhne since 2011 to identify special limited-edition watches whose dials and movements are endowed with rare finishing and engraving techniques.
And, in fact, the main difference versus the model presented in 2014 is the dial which is made of black-rhodiumed pink gold and decorated with tremblage engraving delivering a uniform, fine granular structure.
The relief elements on the dial, including the arced brand logo and the numerals, are later polished to a mirror gloss and contrast prominently against the dark background.
At 6 o'clock, an aperture in the dial reveals the large one-minute tourbillon. The tourbillon bridge and the upper part of the cage are black-polished, one of the most elaborate and time-consuming finissage techniques.
The tourbillon is visible also from the movement side thanks to generous cut-outs and piercing of the fourth-wheel bridge.
The L102.1 manufacture calibre is meticulously decorated with details like bevel-polished reentrant angles and the grained surface of the German silver plate.
