Zenith is now presenting the Academy Georges Favre-Jacot Titanium, a 150-piece limited edition.
The heart of the watch is the El Primero Calibre 4810, a hand-wound movement chronometer-certified by the COSC fast beating at 36,000 vibrations per hour with a distinctive and spectacular feature: a fusée and chain transmission system linked to the barrel which guarantees constant force.
In this model, this high-frequency mechanism made of 797 components is housed in an imposing 45 mm-diameter brushed titanium case which frames a slate grey dial with the central rhodium-plated faceted gold hands sweeping over luminescent black faceted hour-markers.
The snailed small seconds sub-dial is positioned between 7 and 8 o'clock while between 4 and 5 o’clock we find the 50-hour power reserve displayed by a red hand, along with the inscriptions "Force constante", "Bas" and "Haut" (respectively referring to constant force and to "Low" and "High" levels of the remaining power reserve).
The cut-out in the upper part of the brushed dial reveals the fusée and chain transmission system, with the barrel appearing between 10 and 11 o’clock, while the fusée around which the chain progressively wraps is displayed between 1 and 2 o’clock.
Secured to the mainplate by blued screws, two structured bridges bear the staff of the fusée and that of the barrel.
Through the transparent back of the case water-resistant to 100 metres, it is possible to appreciate the carbon-fibre decoration created to emphasise the technical nature of the timepiece while contrasting with the brushed wheels and escapement bridge.
The Zenith Academy Georges Favre-Jacot Titanium is completed by a rubber-lined black hornback alligator leather strap with a triple-blade folding clasp. The price is Swiss Francs 69,000 / Euro 69,900 / US$ 69,000. zenith-watches.com
