A robust and functional diving watch, the new U212 (EZM 16) from German watchmaker Sinn is made of high-strength seawater-resistant German Submarine steel which makes the watch suitable for saltwater diving. The surface is finished with a special bead-blasting treatment which gives it a titanium look.
The diver’s bezel with minute ratcheting and luminous key mark has been treated using Sinn's Tegiment technology which hardens the surfaces by means of a special process which creates a protective layer ("tegimentum" in Latin) increasing scratch-resistance.
To prevent any accidental change of the set time, the unidirectional bezel features a captive safety system which makes it impossible to unlock the bezel using just one finger. In fact, the bezel can be unlocked only by pressing it down on opposite sides using two fingers.
Framed by a 47 mm x 14.5 mm case, the large dial guarantees excellent legibility with a sharp contrast between the matte black background and the white hands and indices, coated with a luminescent colour to be visible also in the dark.
The classification company DNV GL tested the reliability and suitability of the watch for professional use certifying the pressure resistance of the U212 (EZM 16) to a diving depth of 1000 metres / 3330 feet (100 bar) and temperature resistance and functionality in accordance with the European diving device standards. Sinn's Ar-Dehumidifying Technology protects the watch from fogging.
The movement of choice is the self-winding Sellita SW 300-1 beating at 28,800 vph with a power reserve of 42 hours. The movement is shock-resistant, antimagnetic and features a seconds stop function.
