Glashütte Original expands its Senator collection with two versions of the Perpetual Calendar and the Panorama Date Moon Phase characterised by stunning blue dials crafted in Glashütte Original's own dial manufactory in Pforzheim, Germany. One more confirmation that blue is super trendy.
In both models, the galvanic blue dial is framed by a polished 40 mm stainless steel case and fitted with a dark blue alligator leather strap and fold-over clasp in stainless steel.
The intense blue of these new dials is achieved through a galvanic colouring process which demands absolute precision, ensuring that the tension is at the correct level, that the dials are submerged in the bath for precisely the right length of time, and that the correct distance is maintained between the elements in the bath, among other requirements.
Other distinctive and common elements of both dials are the "poire" shaped hands, the black Roman numerals, the minute railroad chapter ring, the tiny silver moon and, of course, the Glashütte Original’s typical panorama date display.
The Senator Perpetual Calendar adds two rectangular apertures at 2 o'clock and 10 o'clock, for the month and for the day of the week respectively, and one discreet leap year display showing a red dot to indicate a leap year followed by yellow, black and white dots for successive years.
The Senator Perpetual Calendar is driven by the Saxon manufactory’s automatic calibre 100-02, the Senator Panorama Date Moon Phase by the calibre 100-04, both beating at 28,800 vph and offering 55 hours of power reserve.
A corrector inset in the case at 8 o'clock resets the second hand to zero for easy synchronisation with a time standard.
Through the sapphire crystal case backs of the two models it is possible to admire the high finishing of the movements: screw balance with 18 weighted gold-coated screws, twin spring barrels, swan-neck fine adjustment, skeletonized rotor with 21-carat gold oscillating weight.
The Senator Perpetual Calendar Blue Dial has a price of around Euro 18,800 / US$ 22,300 with alligator strap or Euro 20,000 / US$ 23,800 with steel bracelet. The Senator Panorama Date Moon Phase Blue Dial is Euro 9,700 / US$ 11,500 with alligator strap or Euro 10,800 / US$ 12,700 with steel bracelet.
Both models will be available exclusively in Glashütte Original boutiques in Dresden, Paris, Geneva, Madrid, Dubai, Singapore, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Macau and Tokyo. glashuette-original.com
