Together with the Geophysic True Second, at the Watches & Wonders 2015 event in Hong Kong, Jaeger-LeCoultre presented the Geophysic Universal Time, a world time watch also featuring true seconds (also referred to as dead seconds). the Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic Universal Time will have prices of around Euro 14,500 / US$ 15,000 in steel (ref. Together with the Geophysic True Second, at the Watches & Wonders 2015 event in Hong Kong, Jaeger-LeCoultre unveiled the Geophysic Universal Time, a world time watch also featuring true seconds (often referred to as dead seconds).
Targeted to world travellers, the new watch can be adjusted in a very intuitive manner operating on the crown rather than using a push button. In neutral position the crown winds the movement, in position 1 it sets the 24-hour mobile disc to reflect the time in the city where the wearer is currently located, and in position 2 it controls the hours and minutes. Once the universal time has been set, there is no need to adjust it while travelling.
The outer city disc is fixed so that the eye of the wearer can easily find the time zone of interest. Local time can be adjusted, independently of the minutes and seconds so avoiding any loss of precision.
The case, in stainless steel or in rose gold, measures 41.6 mm x 11.8 mm and frames an eye-catching dial, with applied hour-markers and baton-type hands with Super-LumiNova, where the sea is depicted by subtly graded lacquered shades of blue and the engraved continents has a sunburst finish.
The new Calibre 772, like the Calibre 770 equipping the Geophysic True Second, features a non-circular balance wheel designed to reduce air friction which was first seen in 2007, under the name of Gyrolab, in the Master Compressor Extreme Lab 1 watch. The 4 Hz (28,800 vph) movement is entirely decorated with Côtes de Genève, including the cut out oscillating weight crafted from a single block of solid gold.
