This new timepiece is a contemporary interpretation of Reference 6087, an iconic model created by Vacheron Constantin in 1955. The Vacheron Constantin Historiques Cornes de vache 1955 (reference 5000H/000P-B058) bears the Hallmark of Geneva. Rarely a timepiece takes its name from the shape of the lugs but this is the case of the latest timepiece presented by Vacheron Constantin for its Historiques collection, the Historiques Cornes de vache 1955.
The new timepiece, that will be first showcased at the Watches & Wonders 2015 event in Hong Kong, is a contemporary interpretation of Reference 6087, an iconic model created by Vacheron Constantin in 1955 which was the first water-resistant and anti-magnetic chronograph presented by the Geneva manufacturer.
The new Historiques Cornes de vache 1955 chronograph, suggests a subtle design tension between straight and curving lines, created by the traditional round shape of the case topped by the distinctively-shaped and elongated cow-horn lugs.
The 38.5 mm x 10.9 mm case is crafted from platinum and is water resistant to 30 metres. The screwed-in caseback is fitted with a transparent sapphire crystal serving to admire the hand decorated heart, the hand-wound Caliber 1142 beating at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour) with a 48-hour power reserve.
Like the other new chronograph movements by Vacheron Constantin, the column-wheel screw has the shape of the emblem of the Manufacture, the Maltese cross.
The silver-toned opaline dial - with 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and small seconds at 9 o’clock - is punctuated by Roman numerals, applied hour markers and hands in 18-carat white gold, while the central seconds hand, the 30-minute counter hand and the tachometric scale feature a royal blue shade which improves readability.
The Vacheron Constantin Historiques Cornes de vache 1955 (reference 5000H/000P-B058) bears the Hallmark of Geneva and is completed by a dark blue Mississippiensis alligator leather strap with a platinum 950 buckle. Issued in an exclusive production run (although a non-limited edition), the model will have a price of around US$ 95,000. vacheron-constantin.com
