Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre Unique Travel Time Métier Rare. The new Duomètre Unique Travel Time Métier Rare presented by Jaeger-LeCoultre maintains the technical features and the key design elements of the two other models and adds a finely chiselled dial. The Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre Unique Travel Time Métier Rare (ref. 6063540) is a limited edition of 200 pieces with a price of around Euro 48,000 / US$ 51,000.
Introduced in 2012 in a limited edition of 100 pieces in white gold and followed in 2014 by a red gold version, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre Unique Travel Time was the first world-time watch enabling to-the-minute adjustment of the second time zone making it possible to accurately set it on all continents and countries regardless of the time difference.
The new Duomètre Unique Travel Time Métier Rare presented by Jaeger-LeCoultre maintains the technical features and the key design elements of the two other models and adds a finely chiselled dial, a rare craft (Métier Rare) which gives this watch a unique personality.
The subtly textured watch face is composed by tiny bumps or ridged created by a highly skilled artisan. This hand engraving technique consists in removing material by performing movements in all directions using a special graver, so as to create a finely granular and shiny surface.
The white gold of the 42 mm case matches the colour of the Earth's land surfaces in the globe representation at 6 o'clock. The globe is synchronised with the travel time.
The unique Dual-Wing system of the Duomètre is divided into two mechanisms, one devoted to displaying the local time, and the other to showing the second time zone. The two mechanisms share the same regulating organ but with their own independent barrel, each with a 50-hour power reserve. The same crown serves to wind the two barrels. Turning it counter-clockwise winds the timekeeping barrel, while a clockwise rotation winds the travel time-zone barrel.
This way, the operation of the dual time-zone display does not affect the running of the watch, so enhancing the precision of the watch. The crown serves to wound both barrels. The timekeeping barrel is wound by a counter-clockwise rotation, and the travel-time barrel by a clockwise rotation.
The movement is beautifully finished and includes hand-bevelled German silver bridges and the exclusive “côtes soleillées” developed by Jaeger-LeCoultre. The names of the cities corresponding to the 24 time zones are engraved on the back of the case.
