Important Watches Auctions. Phillips Watches May auctions establish multiple records. The inaugural watch auctions held by Phillips, in Association with Bacs & Russo, on 9 and 10 May 2015 realised a combined total of Swiss Francs 29,649,363 / US$ 31,834,734 / Euro 28,411,944, selling 97% by lot. The auctions sold four watches for over US$1 million and established multiple records including for any stainless steel wristwatch, for any Rolex sold at auction, and for any Rolex Day-Date.

Of those highlighted timepieces, the Patek Philippe 130 Single Button Chronograph in stainless steel with pulsations scale and a sector design realised Swiss Francs 4,645,000 / US$ 4,987,383 / Euro 4,451,141, more than doubling its estimate of Swiss Francs 1 million to 2 million and setting a new record price for a stainless steel wristwatch sold at auction. The precious watch was sold to an anonymous bidder on the telephone.
The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 6263 'The Oyster Albino', part of the personal collection of Eric Clapton in the past, sold for Swiss Francs 1,325,000 / US$ 1,422,666 / Euro 1,269,701 (estimate: Swiss Francs 500,000 - 1,000,000), a record for any Rolex sold at auction.
The Longines Dieudonné Costes Lindbergh Hour Angle, one of the oldest lots of the auction, sold for Swiss Francs 143,000 / US$ 153,540 / Euro 137,032. (estimate: Swiss Francs 60,000 - 80,000).
Other remarkable results:
An automatic Patek Philippe 2585 in stainless steel dating back to 1958 and housing Patek Philippe’s first self-winding calibre (the 12’’’600) had an estimate of Swiss Francs 80,000 - 120,000 but it sold for an impressive Swiss Francs 785,000 / US$ 843,179 / Euro 752,637.
A Patek Philippe 1518 perpetual calendar chronograph with pink dial, pink gold case and heavy Gay Frères bracelet from 1948 sold for Swiss Francs 1,445,000 / US$ 1,551,511 / Euro 1,384,693 (estimate was Swiss Francs 800,000 to 1,400,000).
A Rolex Day-Date 6612 a.k.a. 'Big Kahuna', one of only two known 6612 references made in platinum, realised Swiss Francs 473,000 / US$ 507,865 / Euro 453,259, more than doubling its pre-sale estimate of Swiss Francs 100,000 to 200,000 and smashing the world record price for any Rolex Day-Date.
