To celebrate 10 years of its most recognizable timepiece, Bell & Ross presented the BR 01 10th Anniversary, an exclusive 500-piece limited edition.
First introduced in 2005, the BR 01 was designed with a key idea behind it: to turn an aircraft cockpit into a pilot watch which could offer great legibility, accuracy and functionality. Since then, Bell & Ross has developed more than 150 models and fifty limited editions of this square watch.
While the design of the BR 01 10th Anniversary is faithful to the original BR 01, this new model has been created with today’s most advanced techniques and materials. The signature square case is made of high-tech ceramic, a material which offers exceptional reliability and resilience, even when exposed to high temperatures, acids, and corrosion. Virtually scratch-resistant, ceramic is also soft to the touch, hypoallergenic and thermo-regulated, instantly reaching body temperature when worn. The matte black ceramic reminds the anti reflective finish used on aircraft instrument panels.
The black dial features contrasting white hands, numerals and indices covered with Super-LumiNova coating to ensure that time can be easily read in any light condition. The hands are similar to those used on altimeters while numerals and indices are in relief.
The four screws in the four corners are functional, securing the cover on the case which is water-resistant to a depth of 100 meters. The sapphire crystal features an anti reflective treatment.
As shown in the exploded view below, the 46 mm ceramic case houses a steel "box section" which further protects the ETA-based automatic movement BR-CAL.302 beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour.
The steel case back has a micro blasted finish and is engraved with the logo "10th Anniversary" also featured on the dial.

I'm really drawn to the minimalist dial on this 10th anniversary icon. I own the BR01 gloss ceramic and can testify to it's toughness. I have knocked it on metal cabinets, door frames and even a brick wall with not even the slightest scratch to be found. Job well done B & R.
