Limited to just 50 pieces, the Richard Mille RM 011 Yellow Flash is a flyback chronograph which combines TZP-N ceramic with NTPT carbon to create a stunning look, here highlighted by sporty yellow details.
Used for the front and back bezels of the RM 011 Yellow Flash, TZP-N is an ultra-tough black ceramic with a low density combining extreme scratch resistance with a low coefficient of thermal activity meaning that there will be no variance in shape of the material when exposed to extreme temperatures.
The caseband, pushers and crown are created using NTPT carbon, an ultra-lightweight and highly resistant form of carbon fibre that has been used on the sails of racing yachts, Formula 1 car chassis and in aeronautics. Dimensions of the imposing case are: 50 mm x 40 mm x 16.5 mm.
The RM 011 Yellow Flash is equipped with a skeletonized automatic winding calibre featuring a flyback chronograph with a 12-hour / 60-minute chronograph counter at 6 o'clock and a 60-minute countdown timer at 9 o'clock. The oversize date, positioned at 12 o'clock, needs to be adjusted only once a year, at the end of February.
Baseplate, bridges and balance cock are made of grade 5 titanium with black PVD coating for greater rigidity and perfect flatness of surfaces (an essential requirement for precision components). Polishing and anglage of the movement are made by hand.
The rotor has a variable geometry, i.e. its inertia is automatically adjusted to either speed up the winding process or to slow it down, for example when sporting activities are performed. This way the winding mechanism is adapted to the owner's lifestyle.
