Omega introduced the Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon with its all-black ceramic case in 2013. It was followed last year by the Grey Side of the Moon model (grey ceramic) and this year, at Baselworld 2015, by the White Side of the Moon, an all-white model.
The Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon collection now expands with four new timepieces which share the 44.25 mm black ceramic case but have different surface finishes and material combinations. We list them below.
Black Black
The Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon "Black Black" (ref. 311.92.44.51.01.005) has a polished and brushed black ceramic casebody, a matt black ceramic dial and a black ceramic clasp on a black coated nylon fabric strap. The hands and the applied indexes are also blackened and coated with black Super-LumiNova. The sub-dials at 3 and 9 o’clock are also matt black and the black ceramic bezel has a black lacquered tachometer scale. Retail price: Swiss Francs 10,800.
Sedna Black
Combining Omega’s ceramic technology with its exclusive rose gold alloy, the Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon "Sedna Black" (ref. 311.63.44.51.06.001) has a completely brushed black ceramic case with a Sedna gold (a rose gold alloy which blends gold, palladium and copper) bezel ring which matches the Sedna gold applied indexes and hands. The marks on the matt grey dial have been created using laser ablation. A black leather strap with a brushed ceramic foldover clasp completes the watch. Retail price: Swiss Francs 12,500.
Pitch Black
The Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon "Pitch Black" (ref. 311.92.44.51.01.004) is characterised by the heavy Super-LumiNova treatment used for the indexes on its matt black ceramic dial. The ceramic timepiece has a polished and brushed casebody and a brushed ceramic bezel with a tachometer scale also in Super-LumiNova. The "Pitch Black" is presented on a black leather strap with ecru stitching and a ceramic foldover clasp. Retail price: Swiss Francs 10,800.
Vintage Black
Finally, the Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon “Vintage Black” (ref. 311.92.44.51.01.006) stands out for the brown indexes and hands treated with vintage-style Super-LumiNova, also used for the tachometer scale. The brown leather strap gives this timepiece a more classic appearance. Retail price: Swiss Francs 10,800.
All the four new timepieces share a black ceramic caseback ring featuring matt chromium nitride marks as well as the name of the name of the collection. The movement is the Omega Co-Axial calibre 9300, a bicompax chronograph movement beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a power reserve of 60 hours thanks to two barrels. omegawatches.com
