Frederique Constant and Alpina, a brand owned by Frederique Constant, jointly announced the Swiss Horological Smartwatch presenting it as a solution to the apparent incompatibility between classic watch and smart watch.
Instead of adopting a digital screen, the Swiss Horological Smartwatch uses the sub-dial at 6 o'clock to offer an analogue representation of the smart technology that is at the heart of this unique timepiece.
Inside the watch is the new smart technology which supports the following functionality: MotionX activity tracking, Sleeptracker sleep monitoring, sleep cycle alarms, active alerts and adaptive coaching. All the data can be backed up and stored in the MotionX cloud.
The Swiss Horological Smartwatch synchronises automatically with applications on Apple and Android smartphones. On the iOS and Android apps, simple and easy-to-understand graphics highlight how much one has moved and slept during the day, week, or month.
The innovative quartz module has a battery life of two plus years, a dramatic improvement compared to what most smart watches offer.
To fully exploit this new technology, the owners of the Frederique Constant Group created MMT (Manufacture Modules Technologies Sàrl), a Swiss joint venture formed with Fullpower Technologies, Inc., a California-based company specialised in the development of wearable and sensor-based solutions.
Two models have been presented: the first is the Frederique Constant ref. FC-285V5B4 in a rose gold plated stainless steel 42 mm case with a silver dial. Water-resistant to 5 ATM.
The second model, from Alpina, is the reference AL-285BTD3C6B featuring a polished and brushed 3-parts stainless stainless steel 39 mm case with a black dial and 11 hand- set diamonds. Water-resistant up to 10ATM.
MMT also licensed the Swiss brand Mondaine - well known for its timepieces modeled after Swiss railroad clocks - which presented the Helvetica No 1 Smart.
These watches will be available in stores worldwide from June 2015. smartwatch.frederique-constant.com
