Part of the appreciated Harmony collection presented by Vacheron Constantin last January at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie 2015, the Harmony Dual Time offers a very useful complication with a second time zone sub-dial and day/night indication.
Available in pink gold or white gold for men and in a smaller version in white gold with diamond-set bezel for women, the Dual Time houses a newly developed self-winding movement, the Calibre 2460DT beating at 28,800 vph with a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. Thanks to the innovative construction of the movement, all settings may be done by the crown in both directions. A special stop seconds device ensures a more accurate time display.
Presented to mark Vacheron Constantin’s 260th anniversary and issued in limited series on this occasion (625 pieces for men and 500 for women), the Dual Time models feature an oscillating weight adorned with a commemorative motif forming delicate scrolling patterns known as “fleurisanne engraving” and inspired by the arabesques adorning the balance-cock of the oldest pocket watch by the Maison, signed by Jean-Marc Constantin in 1755.
The two versions for men appear in a 40 mm x 49.3 mm cushion-shaped case with a thickness of 11.43 mm. The feminine variation is slightly smaller (37 mm x 46.6 mm, 11.18 mm thick) and it is characterised by a bezel set with 88 diamonds for a total of 1.20 carats.
The blue-painted numerals typical of the Harmony collection nicely contrast with the opaline silver-toned dial offering excellent readability. The hour and minute hands are gold while blued hands are used to indicate the time in the second zone. The sun and moon symbols on the day/night indication are made of gold and add a truly nice touch to the dial.
Like all creations from Harmony, the new Dual Time timepieces are certified by the Hallmark of Geneva, a guarantee of provenance, craftsmanship, durability and expertise. They will be delivered with a magnifying glass, a dedicated brochure on the Harmony product line and a 260th anniversary celebration letter signed by Mr. Juan-Carlos Torres, CEO of Vacheron Constantin. Retail prices starting at around Euro 40,000. vacheron-constantin.com
