At the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie 2015, Jaeger-LeCoultre will introduce a new version of its Master Calendar model with a precious meteorite dial.
The Master Calendar Meteorite Dial, available in steel (ref. Q1558421) or in pink gold (ref. Q1552540) maintains the same technical specifications of the Master Calendar model already on catalogue but adopts a totally new dial made from a a meteorite stone found in Sweden and originating from the Asteroid Belt (the region of the Solar System located between the orbits of the planets Mars and Jupiter.)
Jaeger-LeCoultre hand-inspects each and every meteorite dial to ensure that they all share the same aesthetic qualities although no two dials will be exactly the same given the nature of the material.
The dial is completed by applied indices and dauphine-style hands. The calendar information - day, month, date and moon phases - are positioned with a very clear layout whose design is inspired by the historical Jaeger-LeCoultre watch with calendar dating back to 1945.
The 39 mm case is water resistant to 50 metres and houses the automatic JLC manufacture calibre 866 beating at 28,800 vph and offering a power reserve of 43 hours.
The strap is black or brown alligator leather with a stainless steel or rose gold deployante buckle. Retails prices, while not yet announced, should have a 5-10% premium compared to the models with silvered sunray-brushed dial whose current prices are Euro 8,950 / US$ 11,300 in stainless steel and Euro 20,100 / US$ 24,300 in pink gold. jaeger-lecoultre.com

Meteorite stones are very difficult to cut and work because they contain a high percentage of iron. The dials of the Master Calendar are obtained from thin disks, sliced from the meteorite stone, and must undergo various finishing phases before revealing their fascinating texture.
