Baume et Mercier has a long tradition in the creation of successful timepieces for Ladies. Marquise, Stardust and Galaxy are just some of famous watches dedicated to women. The latest collection from the watchmaker based in Les Brenets is called Promesse and includes several models equipped with quartz or mechanical self-winding movements. As usual, we focus on the mechanical ones.
Promesse features an elegant and feminine design characterised by an oval bezel nestled inside a classic, round case available in two sizes: 30 mm and 34 mm.
The dial, offering excellent readability thanks to large Roman numerals and indexes, is enhanced by a silver-coloured, “drape” guilloché decor. The same "drape" decor is used for the azure mother-of-pearl dial variation.
The 30 mm version is available in steel (ref. 10182), in steel and red gold-capped steel (ref. 10183), and in steel with an oval bezel highlighted by a setting of 30 diamonds (ref. 10184). The ETA 2671 automatic movement (28,800 vph, 38 hours of power reserve) is visible through the transparent case back.
The 34 mm version has diamond-set indexes (8 Top Wesselton diamonds) and it is available in steel (ref. 10162) or in steel and red gold-capped steel (ref. 10163). The self-winding ETA 2892 movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers 42 hours of power reserve.
As written, other models equipped with quartz movements and enhanced by mother of pearl bezels are available.
The bracelet is well harmonised with the case with links which follow the curves of the case, "just like the ripples produced by a drop of water", to quote Baume et Mercier description.
In line with the Baume et Mercier logo – the Greek letter "phi" – which symbolises the golden ratio or “divine proportion”, equilibrium seems to be the design principle inspiring the new Promesse collection. baume-et-mercier.com
