The Corum Admiral Cup AC-One 45 Squelette is the latest interpretation of a watch model with more than half a century of history.
Equipped with a skeleton movement open-worked in a modern, geometric style, the AC-One 45 Squelette retains the traditional Admiral’s Cup shape with the 12-sided bezel decorated with nautical pennants, here finished in graduated tones of grey.
The large 45 mm case, built in lightweight, grade 5 titanium, frames a squelette (French for “skeleton”) movement where the open-worked bridges have been covered in a dark grey plating for a striking contrast against the gilded wheels.
The dial is arranged in various layers for an intriguing visual depth effect. The entire date disc, which has every single numeral skeletonised, is visible so becoming a decorative element around the movement.
The date is visualised in the vertical aperture at 6 o'clock. The hour markers are filled with Super-Luminova for readability even in poor light conditions.
The Corum logo, which looks like floating over the dial, is made of a deposited metal alloy bonded to the underside of the scratch-resistant sapphire glass. To allow the wearer to fully appreciate the movement, without glares, Corum coated the crystal with a special anti-reflective layer which renders it nearly invisible.
The case, water resistant to 300 metres, is stamped from a single block of titanium and then carefully milled into shape, with black PVD coated inlays to create tonal contrast against the grade 5 titanium alloy, used for the entire case, from the bezel to back, and even the screw-down crown.
A sapphire crystal porthole on the back reveals the reverse of the 4 Hz (28,800 vph) self-winding calibre CO 082, equipped with a ruthenium-coated oscillating weight and offering a power reserve of 42 hours.
The Corum Admiral Cup AC-One 45 Squelette (ref. A082/02336-082.401.04) is secured by a push-button, double-fold clasp in titanium, fitted to a black crocodile strap.
