After the Carrera Mikrograph Avant-Garde, here is another novelty from Tag Heuer: the Carrera 1969, the first model to house the newly developed Calibre 1969, an integrated automatic chronograph movement with a vertical-clutch system whose name celebrates the year when Heuer introduced the Chronomatic Calibre 11.

This new highly efficient COSC-certified movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz) and offers 70 hours of power reserve.

The 43 mm case of the Carrera 1969 is only apparently similar to the Carrera Mikrograph case. In fact, this is not a two-part construction like the Mikrograph, rather an integrated titanium carbide case with rose gold details (bezel, crown, push buttons and the small bolts on the side of the horns). The crown is overmolded with black rubber to offer even more grip.

The Cotes de Geneve finishing of the dial is extended to the 12-hour chronograph counter at 9 o'clock except for the left part which exposes the date wheel, a pretty unusual solution. 

The other two counters - 30-minute at 3 o'clock and small seconds at 6 o'clock - are decorated with a circular pattern. The tachometer scale, on an inner flange, completes the dial.

The 2014 Tag Heuer Carrera 1969 in titanium and rose gold (ref. CAR2A50), a limited edition of 500 pieces, will be priced at around 10,000 Euros and will be available through authorized dealers. A steel version is scheduled for release later in 2014.
