TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph: light-powered precision with a bold new look

The timing couldn't be more fitting: as the new official timekeeper of Formula 1, TAG Heuer introduces the ultra-sporty Formula 1 Solargraph collection, powered by a cutting-edge movement that recharges with any light source.

First launched in 1986, the Formula 1 was the first model to feature the new TAG Heuer logo—combining the TAG initials with the historic Heuer emblem. With its forward-thinking design and bold colour combinations, it quickly became a major success for the brand (read more in our feature article, "The History of TAG Heuer").

Now with a bold new redesign, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 continues to evolve, reaffirming its status as a symbol of racing passion.

Building on the original 35 mm models, the new 38 mm version retains its signature case profile, blending elegance with sportiness for everyday wear. Its refined proportions ensure a comfortable fit across various wrist sizes.

The case is available in sandblasted steel with a DLC treatment or in TH-Polylight, a lightweight and durable bio-polyamide material exclusive to TAG Heuer, offering limitless colour possibilities while optimising both ergonomics and aesthetics.

The re-engineered bidirectional bezel, also crafted from TH-Polylight, enhances the watch’s tactile experience.

The latest TAG Heuer Formula 1 collection introduces nine distinct models, including three core references:

Ref. WBY1111.BA0042 – White dial, black bezel, steel case and bracelet

Ref. WBY1112.BA0042 – Deep blue bezel and dial, steel case and bracelet

Ref. WBY1161.FT8086 – Black bezel, white dial, red bio-polyamide case, and red rubber strap

The remaining six models are limited editions featuring striking colour combinations: black and red, black and yellow, blue and black, white and green, white and red, and a green and red edition. Each pays homage to the original 1986 collection.

Super-LumiNova-treated indexes, a reinterpretation of the original shield-shaped markers, now appear in an applied format, further elevating the watch’s aesthetics.

The hands, inspired by the original design, have been refined with upgraded finishes and improved proportions to reinforce the watch’s premium character.

All models are available with a dynamic rubber strap embossed with the TAG Heuer logo, a black rubber racing strap, or a 3-link steel bracelet. The redesigned steel bracelet features enhanced articulation for a more fluid and comfortable fit on the wrist.

With the Solargraph movement, a first for the TAG Heuer Formula 1 lineup, the watch is powered by sunlight or artificial light. Just two minutes of direct sunlight provide enough energy for a full day, while less than 40 hours in the sun fully charges the watch for up to 10 months without light exposure.

If the watch stops, a quick 10-second exposure to any light source is enough to restart it, thanks to its ultra-efficient recharge time. The battery is designed for long-term reliability and offers an impressive 15-year lifespan.
