Hamilton’s Intra-Matic is one of the most popular chronographs in the collection of this American-rooted watch brand, founded in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in 1892.

The latest interpretation of this classic is a bold one: the Intra-Matic Auto Chrono in Black PVD. 

Part of the American Classic collection, the new model comes in three variations, each featuring a stealthy 40 mm x 14.45 mm case in black PVD-coated stainless steel.

The physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating not only enhances the watch’s appearance but also improves its durability. This protective layer, made up of multiple coatings just 1/1,000,000th of a millimetre thick, makes the surface highly resistant to corrosion. 

The screw-down crown ensures water resistance to 100 metres / 330 feet.

The first option offers a minimalist, sleek look with a muted black dial and contrasting white indexes and hands (ref. H38446732). 

For those seeking a pop of colour, the other two versions add yellow (ref. H38446731) or orange (ref. H38446732) accents to the chronograph hand, tachymeter scale, and perforations in the leather strap.

Protected by a sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective coating, the matte black dial features two snailed sub-dials chronograph 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock and running seconds at 9 o'clock. 

The date aperture at 6 o'clock complete the dial indications.

Hour and minute hands, along with the hour markers, are treated with Super-LumiNova for enhanced legibility in poor light conditions. The font and Hamilton logo on the dial are the same historic ones from 1968.

Hidden behind a solid case back, the H-31 automatic chronograph movement (based on the ETA Valjoux 7753) beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and offers a 60-hour power reserve.
