The Seiko Prospex Speedtimer SRQ051J1 and SRQ053J1 take inspiration from the distinctive design of the 1972 Speedtimer model, featuring a case with smooth, flowing lines, a multi-link bracelet, and a highly legible dial with the signature "reverse panda" layout.

The SRQ051J1 features a blue dial, while the SRQ053J1 offers a classic glossy black dial. Both are protected by a domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating to minimise glare.

The chronograph seconds hand, tipped in red, directly references the 1972 model. The minute and hour counter hands, located at 9 o’clock and 6 o’clock respectively, also feature red tips, improving the readability of elapsed times at a glance.

A notable technical detail is the subtle curvature of the chronograph seconds hand, allowing its tip to closely follow the dial’s indices and extend to the tachymeter scale on the rehaut. The hour and minute hands, along with the indices, are coated in Lumibrite to enhance visibility in low-light conditions.

Crafted from stainless steel, the watches have dimensions of 42 mm in diameter and 14.59 mm in thickness, with a lug width of 20 mm. They offer water resistance up to 100 metres / 330 feet. The multi-link bracelet is secured with a deployant clasp.

Powering the new Speedtimer models is the 8R48 calibre, an automatic chronograph movement featuring a vertical clutch and column wheel. Operating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), it delivers a power reserve of 45 hours. 

The escapement is manufactured using MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) technology, resulting in a lightweight design that enhances both stability and precision.
