Introduced at the end of 2016 and fully unveiled at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (Geneva, 16-20 January 2017), the IWC Da Vinci collection includes models in various sizes and with a rich variety of complications.
Today we focus on the Da Vinci Automatic, a classical three-hand watch with date presented in a 40 mm case which can appeal both women and men.
Its distinctive moving horns and twin frame bezel directly draw inspiration from the 1980s Da Vinci SL Automatic Ref. 3528, a timepiece that is still highly sought-after by collectors.
The Da Vinci Automatic 40 mm is available either with slate-coloured dial, rhodium-plated hands and appliqués, stainless-steel bracelet or with silver-plated dial, gold-plated hour and minute hands and appliqués, black alligator leather strap. In this version, a blue seconds hand provides a colourful
contrast.
Thanks to its moving horns, the watch fits perfectly even around a slim wrist and can therefore be attractive also for women.
The clear-cut dial design with the date at 6 o’clock is characterised by large Arabic numerals and lancet-shaped leaf hands.
Both models are water-resistant to 30 metres / 100 feet and powered by the highly reliable 4 Hz (28,800 vph) Calibre 35111 with automatic winding and 42-hour power reserve.
The elegance of the watch can be enhanced by a hand-dyed black alligator leather strap by Santoni secured by a pin buckle while the stainless steel bracelet featuring a practical folding butterfly clasp makes the watch sportier.
